About us
Our company, Potrero Labs, was founded with the mission to reimagine the expression and spread of human perspective. We think now is once in a generation time to build something revolutionary, and make it happen.
We have built Jams, which is a ridiculously easy way to record and share authentic and engaging conversational videos. We have laid the foundation and shipped our first product to early users, and gotten strong positive feedback… But there is a ton more to build and grow.
We have a small but extremely effective team (currently four) of seasoned product builders, working in-person in Burlingame, CA in the SF Bay Area. We are backed by some of the leading investors and product builders, including A16Z, South Park Commons, Elad Gil, Mysten Labs, Aatif Awan (Indus Valley Capital), Fidji Simo (Instacart), Vijaye Raji (Statsig), Paresh Rajwat (ex-Oculus VP), among others.
About you
We are looking for senior engineers (think staff or principal level) who will thrive at an early-stage startup.
You may be a great fit if:
- You have 5+ years of strong IC technical contributions
- You are deeply passionate about frontier AI technologies, and crave getting to master them to deliver unimaginable product experiences
- You value the energy and occasional chaos of being in the early stages of a company
- You are willing to work the hardest in your career, for an outsized payoff
You will likely not be a great fit if:
- Your key strength is being a people manager
- You expect the lifestyle or day to day structure of a large company
Working together
Every single day, you can expect to do some of the following:
- Lead development of product area or technical infrastructure
- Work with the co-founders to iterate on product expectation and architecture
- Make solid technical decisions, rooted in hands-on experience and solid CS fundamentals
- Be glued to customer feedback, and be ready to deliver on it within a day
Our primary programming languages are Typescript, Python and Swift (iOS), and the main frameworks we use are NodeJS, React and React Native, among others. However, we look for engineers who can jump into new technologies and thrive in the process of discovery, not just those who are already familiar with the stack.
Key details
Although we have a strong set of backers and a long runway, we are still a seed-stage startup. Our goal is to be market rate for salary, but be generously above market rate for equity options and build a small team of highly invested people. While we don’t have formal titles, we expect every one to be financially set for life if we succeed.
- Salary: $180-200K
- Equity options: 0.7-2% (based on your current super powers and growth)
- In-person 5 days / week
